Hi, this is KennyDanielArt. I’m an artist , a son of the soil, and a storyteller with a pencil in hand. I am Kehinde Daniel Ojo to my parents, but call me  Kenny . My art is more than pencil on paper; it’s a journey to uncover truths the world has overlooked, a way to pull back centuries of silence and let Africa’s stories breathe again. Welcome to The Awakened Artist , my blog, where I’m stepping into my calling to draw not just faces, but origins like our identity, our pride and our roots. A glimpse into the past through the lens of history Pencil on paper 2017 This isn’t just a gallery. It’s a resurrection of stories buried in texture, symbolism and soul. Let’s walk this path together. Why This Blog? For too long, the narratives of Africa have been shaped by outsiders who haven’t lived our struggles, joys, or triumphs. A Visual Awakening “Do we remember who we were before the world told us who to be?” This profound question that lies at the heart of The Lost Identity , the first piece in my new Awakening series. It is an invitation to confront the silence that often surrounds Africa’s stolen roots, repressed heritage and fragmented identity. In this artwork, I seek to awaken not just memories but the very essence of self. This crown, heavy and crumbling, symbolizes the lost kingdoms, the erasure of thriving pre-colonial civilizations and the generations of Africans who have been taught to forget their true identities. The cracked earth represents more than physical dryness; it signifies a spiritual severance from the land and heritage. She sits on a wooden chair, worn with time, its surface splintered and scarred, much like the b...

Mother of Mankind

Work in progress... "We are all born from the same place—the source of all humanity. Differences are adaptations, not divisions." I’m happy to share a sneak peek of my latest piece in the Awakening Series. This pencil sketch, still in progress, is already pulsing with meaning. In this piece, a figure holds the Earth tenderly, with Africa facing forward. Why? Because Africa is the cradle of humanity, the root of our shared journey. This isn’t about Black or White, it’s about Human. Our skin, our features, our differences are adaptations to the lands we wandered, not walls between us. This drawing is my way of challenging the very foundation of racism, reminding us that we all sprouted from the same soil. The Inspiration Behind the Art The title Mother of Mankind carries a weighty truth: Africa is where humanity began. Science tells us our story started there, some 200,000–300,000 years ago. Early humans evolved dark, melanin-rich skin to shield against the intense equatorial ...
